Akron Retail Industry
As far as laying a good foundation for the retail industry, the city of Akron Ohio has all the right bricks in place. Akron is known as the city of invention, because of all the major firsts which were put together in the city over its history. Those firsts include graded school systems and high tech innovations as well as retail mainstays such as the rubber tire. All of those inventions saw their first retail opportunities within the city.
The fact that innovation lies at the heart of Akron's existence is another reason why the retail sector in the city continues to do so well. There are a lot of high paying jobs in this city, and that means people want to go out and spend their money. They may be looking for the perfect birthday gift ideas for a woman, or the right television to fit their multi media room. Where there is a need, a business will rise to fill it, and that is at the heart of the retail boom in Akron.
Also, keep in mind that Akron is a city of some 210,000 residents, and that means there is a large customer base for any type of retail business. From common items such as groceries to rarer goods including Sophia Tolli wedding dresses, specialized business in Akron have a good chance to do well thank to the large market base.
Of course, location is always a big part of success for any business, whether it sells a custom baby feeding set or high end fashion. There are a couple of different locations in Akron where the retail industry is much more visible than in others. Let's take a look at a few of them now.
Chapel Hill is one of the most important neighborhoods in Akron from a retailer's point of view. It is easily accessible from the other neighborhoods of the city thanks to its proximity to Route 8. This makes up for the fact that it is one of the smaller neighborhoods in Akron from the residential point of view (although it is home to a disproportionate number of seniors, which of course is ideal for many retail distributors).
Chapel Hill's retail industry is anchored by the Chapel Hill Mall, located in the northeast corner of the neighborhood. There, you will find stores which sell women's pants, pet supplies, electronics, and all manner of other items. New stores are leasing space in the Mall constantly, making it a shopper's dream.
The other major neighborhood in Akron as far as the retail boom is concerned is Rolling Acres. The least residential of any of the 21 neighborhoods of Akron, Rolling Acres is known as a place where you can find any retail store or item you are looking for. It's the part of the city where you will find big box stores, auto dealers, and shopping malls. Businesses have found it to be the perfect place to set up shop, whether they are selling wall words and other items of home décor or the latest sport bikes.
A large population and an economy geared towards high spending residents make Akron an ideal place for retail. No wonder the sector has seen such incredible growth over the past few years!
