Moving The Family

Moving is always a stressful time, especially if your family has gotten attached to their Tivoli NY real estate, to their Tivoli friends and lifestyles, and doesn't want to move to Akron, Ohio to start all over again. However in many cases moving is unavoidable, either because of a job loss or a job opportunity. It has to be done, no matter how much your family wants to stay put. You want them to be happy, but you also want your move to go as smoothly as possible, so follow these tips in order to minimize the stress of your cross country move.

Focus on the Positives

When you're thinking about putting up Etobicoke homes for sale that you've lived in your whole life or leaving friends behind, it can be easy to focus on the negative aspects of the move. Don't. Think about all the good things that will come out of the move and encourage your family to do the same. Think about visiting the famous landmarks that will now be within your reach. Think about new schools and new friends and having more money to go out to eat. Think about a new house and decorating a new bedroom and exploring a new space.

Tie up Loose Ends

Before you leave your Acton real estate and all the friends and connections you made while living there, make sure to say goodbye. Have a going away party to say goodbye to friends and family. Make a scrapbook or photo album to remember your time there. Collect emails and addresses and phone numbers to keep in touch. It may feel silly to say goodbye to a house, to a bedroom to the tree in the yard, but it will be cathartic for the kids and help them close this chapter of their lives.

Leave No One Behind

The most traumatic aspect of a move for most children is leaving their friends behind. Don't make them leave their beloved pets too, because that will leave them without anyone to lean on for support and familiarity in the new environment. If at all possible, buy new condos in Toronto that allow pets. Pay the extra money to have them come on the plane with you, leave room in the car for them. It will make a world of difference to everyone.

Make it an Adventure

Everyone loves a good adventure, even if they're still sad from saying goodbye. Make exploring or looking at new homes in London, Ontario into an adventure. If possible, drive instead of fly to the new city so the kids can acclimatize to the change and so you can stop at fun and interesting sites along the way that will help them build fun, new memories to replace the old sad ones.
